  Programme Objective
 
   

The PhD Computer Science / Information Technology programme aims

1.To prepare scientific/educational manpower with depth of knowledge and research competence of international level to fill positions in Research Organizations, Industry, Management, Universities, Health Care and Educational Institutions.
2.To establish centers of research of high quality (both fundamental and applied) in the Institute.
3.To improve the qualification, skills, and expertise of teachers/officers and thus provide competent teachers/officers at all levels of Education in Universities, Colleges and Schools.
 
Eligibility for Admission

The basic requirements for admission to the PhD Computer Science / Information Technology programme are given below.

1. M.Phil/MS or equivalent degree with CGPA at least 3.0
2. Those candidates will be eligible who have qualified International GRE (Subject). A candidate who has not qualified International GRE (Subject) at the time of enrollment shall be enrolled in PhD with the condition that he/she shall qualify the exam before submission of his/her thesis.
3. Not more than one second division in an academic career.
4. Specific eligibility criteria of different departments will be provided by the department before the admission.
   
 
   
 

PhD Credits Transfer

   
 

A candidate can transfer his/her credits from an HEC recognized University/Institute under the following conditions:

1. None of the aforementioned conditions of eligibility criteria are violated.
2. A supervisor at the Institute recommends the admission of the candidate
3. The previous University/Institute of the candidate has no objection over the credit transfer.

4. In case of a PhD transfer, the number of credits already completed by the candidate in the previous University/Institute shall be accepted on as-it-is basis.

   
 

Programme Structure

   
 

A candidate can transfer his/her credits from an HEC recognized University/Institute under the following conditions:

1. The maximum permissible period for the completion of Ph.D. will be 6 years. The period shall be counted from the date of admission to the Ph.D. Programme.
2. The minimum period of completion of Ph.D. programme shall be 3 years (one year 18 credit hours course, comprehensive examination, synopsis; two years research). After 6 years, the scholar shall cease to be the student of the Institute and shall not generally be eligible for re-admission.
3. The PhD candidate has to take course work of minimum of 12 credit hours. In case of credit transfer, the credits already completed shall be exempted.
4. The choice of courses will be designated to the relevant supervisors who. Major emphasis in courses will be placed on research papers in the relevant areas. The students will be required to attend research seminars to learn and discuss their research findings.
5. A Ph.D. student shall be required to pass a comprehensive examination (written) after completing course work.
6. A Ph.D. student will give a seminar relevant to his/her field of research at his/her convenience within a year of submission of synopsis to the Department for approval from Board of Advanced Studies and Research.
